PHD Posh Home Design was referred to us by QanVast. Johnny has done a wonderful interior and renovation work for us. He has been quick to come out with the design and quotation and the subsequent project management of end to end is great as we dont have to worry and leave everything at the good hand of Johnny! Thanks Johnny and PHD Posh home design and QanVast!

I have engaged PHD taking comfort on the 5 year warranty offer. The company started giving issue right from the start delaying schedule and then changing project manager in the middle of the work. The work is of very poor quality and it starts breaking within 2-3 years. When you go back to the company, they don't provide any support siting various excuses. They charge premium projecting 5 years warranty and in reality, the company doesn't provide any warranty support. Please don't be cheated by the warranty offer from the company. Avoid the company at any cost if you want durability and peace of mind on your interior work.

This is long, but worth your time if you are seriously considering working with PHD. This is our experience with them, for your info to decide if they are worth your time and money. 1) Our reno was delayed twice, handover postponed by almost 3 months. 2) We would have been ok with (1), understandable due to Covid. However, when we went for a “final check” with them, we were unable to accept the standard of works. 3) Many mistakes in carpentry by their partner Wei Ya, the most major being kitchen cabinet done in the wrong dimensions - they failed to follow drawings. Overall, poor quality carpentry with inner shelves that are too light and flip over / bend easily. Inner drawers of wardrobe are not properly aligned, meaning we have to open both wardrobe doors just to pull open the drawer on one side. 4) Cabinet doors with metal edges that cut us when we opened them, because they were both difficult to open and close. 5) Our concealed system WC was badly installed, the insides of the flush were badly broken. It was a stroke of luck that we discovered this error when we opened the flush cover. Not only did we have to replace them, the poor installation caused a major leak (which we kept reminding them of in our group chat, but our reminders were repeatedly ignored), that costed almost $500 in water bills. Other bathroom wares were also not installed properly, and we had to get the various distributors on our own to come and rectify the problems. 6) Refusal to make good of defects caused by them in the condo estate. This has not been resolved. 7) Rubbish chute that could not close. 8) The poor standard of works do not end here. These are the more major ones. We did not bargain and we made payments on time, and we expected their works to reflect the prices they charged, but this was not the case. We knew roughly what to expect, as we had worked with other contractors/carpenters before. They did compensate us partially for the troubles (we were so stressed and tired), but we are still very disappointed and cannot help but worry about any other issues that we may not have discovered, or that may arise due to bad workmanship. We wished we could leave a better review, but we really hope you have a good idea of what to look out for should you wish to engage PHD for your home reno.

Bad workmanship and no followup

We've had the renovation done and posted a good review on request of our contractor upon completion of the project. However, we found many defects but still make the last payment because they promised to fix the issues. However, obviously we were gullible to believe that this is the case. We have been asking every month for a year now and there is no action. There is always no resources and we will never be a priority. We still have a slanted rack which we are not able to put items on, we have alot of cracks on the walls, including the one which was poorly sealed after hacking. They also cut corners on all the hinges of the cabinets where half of them had the soft closing for both hinges but half of them did not have soft closing for either the top or bottom. I guess they did not order enough of the Blum hinges and just cheated us into believing that it is good. The whole workmanship priority is a lie, and not needing to ensure all is done because this is not the end of the relationship is a lie. The thing we learn is that never make the last payment even if this is just 5% until you are satisfactory because nothing will be done from that point. You are not a priority even if things are dropping from your shelves and the cupboard does not close properly from the cut corners. You are supposed to live with poor workmanship of crack walls. Do not go to them if you believe you need workmanship or if you need quality in the renovation.
