My Renovation journey. All the Ups, downs, quarrels, delays, endless worries accompanied with many sleepless nights on how my first “Dream Home” would be. I came to know POSH Homes thru Qanvast when I browsed thru some of their designs, and my first encounter with senior designer “Robin” was in early December ‘18, Not Long after I confirmed my purchased of my resale unit which will be handed over to me in early Febuary, I invited Robin to view on site with me, handed him the floor plan and arranged another meeting with him at his office to see what he has to offer. The meeting went pretty smooth although it took a long time, and his explanations to me as a first time owner made me felt like I was three years old. Nevertheless I bought into his space planing proposal the only ONE requirement I do not wanna see WIRE CASING, WATER PIPES, SANITARY PIPES, AIR CON TRUNKING AND GAS PIPE....yet without violating HDB renovation regulations. I've waited for 2 weeks before I could finally get a peek on my 3D design. Then I realised Robin has rejected the first round of 3D without showing me. He said "I will never show anythings to customer if I myself cannot accept". At this point, I realised he is the MAN. We agreed on a budget, timeline and concept, with his promise that I won’t get any eyesore in regards to my only request. Before start works, Robin also warm me to expect the expected and unexpected renovation problem. I handed robin the keys to my “Dream Home” just after CNY. Not Long after he told me he would start work ASAP and he knocked the whole place down. Through out the entire renovation, receiving calls and Whatsapp from Robin would either be updates of the renovation or problems encountered and making decision on alternative solutions. Many decisions were tough as I have no experience in ID, especially some decisions are no 'right' or no "wrong'. Luckily with Robin 18 years experience, he explained to me with all the pros and cons. One good example: air con trunking. To achieve non expose A/c trunking seems impossible due to RC beams, pillar and concrete wall. At that time each time I had lost hope for my “Dream Home” and it started fading away. Fortunately, with Robin experience, all A/C trunking managed to box up. Towards the end of the renovation, and at this moment, there were 1.5 weeks delayed in vinyl flooring installation. Due to my ignorance, I complained. Only to find out I'm making a fool of myself. All cement screed need a "curing period of time". This is to let the cement screed to set in place and stabilized. After stabilized, there will be uneven surface and a touch up is needed in order to a get a seamless vinyl surface. And now I’m sitting at my favorite spot recalling and thinking it was a journey worth spending and I’m kinda sad that the renovation has end. I’ve wrote a very long review and here are the some tips I would like to share with future first time home owners, my comments on “Robin” on this project and which he had taught me in this journey. A) “Problems,Decisions & Delays” = I truly understand now that, when encountering onsite problems especially with so much restrictions, shitty old HDB pipes and fundamental works which have done, quick important decisions must be made, fast because with my hesitation, I also caused a portion of the delays. B) “Wannabe ID” = We always expect that since we are the paying customer, we often order people to do as paid. Please do not do that! Trust your ID and if really in doubt, seek second opinion. C) “Fundamental & Onsite Issues” = Please do give allowance and be ready to make sacrifices when doing renovation. All IDs are also human and like TAILORS, with so many components and so many different suppliers and workers the ID needs to communicate and get the job done and keeps his integrity in work, I really take my hats off Robin for doing such a tremendous work of keeping my only request which is the most difficult to promise and he actually did it! Thank you bro! D) Price Difference or Increment in Pricing = Along the way, I had the choice and free will to pick what I want for the materials which piece up the whole renovation. And if I have expensive taste, I should be the on responsible for the bill not the ID! E) “The Real ID” = Many times I got over excited and with so much informations online, we tend to drift away from our original. And I again would like to praise Robin for standing up against to me, because we should respect that we hire a designer, not a contractor and the final design is their responsibility to us and the money we pay. F) “Dream Home” = It is a sentence which literally speaks for itself, please change it to a “Realistic Home” as Robin told me. Be realistic unless your willing to spend $$$.

My ID was very patient and attentive when we had to sit down and discuss the designs. Regardless of how many concerns we had, she was able to efficiently come up with a solution for them. She was very professional and we were impressed with the final outcome of the renovation.

Our home is a resale flat in Kaki Bukit area. And being a resale flat, we had to do major hacking & tiling works for the kitchen and 2 bathrooms, plus redesigning of the master bedroom and living room space. Out of all the ID firms and recommended contractors we've met, Posh Home is the most expensive yet we decided to engage Miki to oversee the renovation of our first home. We were impressed by her when she came to view our unit and after discussing the design plans for the living & master bedroom, she straight away informed us that she managed to source the exact same marble flooring material for us (all these while the other IDs had straight up told us its not possible)..... Her professionalism and attitude wowed us, not to mention she has a great personality! Another plus points --> Posh Home provides a detailed breakdown of all the products & services included in the renovation in such as way that it's easy for first-time home owners like us to understand what we were paying for. No hidden cost or surprises which could lead to misunderstanding later. Throughout the process, we appreciated Miki's thoughtfulness in arranging appointments according to our schedule, knowing we have a young baby to care for. Miki tried her best to accommodate to our timelines (due to fensghui matters), she is mostly responsive to answering our inquiries even late at night and on weekends. But most importantly, she gives valuable inputs on how we could make the space functional / design better despite the budget we had given. In terms of Design & Material-wise, we felt that Miki made sure we are informed to make the right decisions for our home. In the end, we went slightly over our budget but we don't have regrets as we do think it was all necessary to choose quality materials as we intend to stay here for a long time. Having stayed in our new home for 3 months now, we feel comfortable with the space, and it's bright yet cozy. Friends who had come over during phase 3 all have praises for our new home and we've since recommended Miki to my 2 other colleagues. Our only feedback was the quality of workmanship for the bathroom tiling works could have been done better. Nonetheless, we are happy that we've chosen Miki as our ID for our first home.

We met a lot of IDs before deciding to work with Posh home. Paisely from Posh Home was accommodating to our requests and also knew what we wanted. She also helped to work with the contractors and expedite our renovation during a difficult time during the circuit breaker. Paisely not only advised on cost effective options but she managed to turn our vision of a bright, cosy home into reality. Thank you Paisely and Posh home!
