Extreme makeover: condos edition.
If your new home is decked out in a way that doesn’t tickle your fancy, a major overhaul is all but inevitable. And we’ve seen our fair share of magical HDB flat transformations, but what about condos?
If you’ve been looking for condo makeovers, wait no more – for these 5 resale condos will show you that no home is too dire for a major overhaul!
1. From a gaudy home to an elegant space
Something as simple as a change in colour scheme can be enough to transform the place. Case in point: this sleek 3-bedroom condo in Paya Lebar, which once had a tawdry colour scheme that visually cluttered the space more than it brightened it.
Before and After: Living Room
With a fresh, neutral colour scheme, this condo now boasts a sophisticated modern-contemporary look that is a far cry from the bright, gaudy facade it once had.
Gone are the bright cerulean shades, which have been replaced by a cool marble-look feature wall and walnut fluted panels that exude elegance.
Before and After: Kitchen
At 1,410 sqm, this house is by no means small – but honestly, who doesn’t like an open-concept space? Here, you can see that the original kitchen walls were hacked away to encourage a seamless flow into the living and dining area.
With a much larger space to work with, the designers from Noble Interior Design were then free to install an island – a feature that was cleverly used to demarcate the kitchen while also providing additional countertop space.
Before and After: Master bedroom
Like the communal areas, the master bedroom was similarly transformed into a bright and airy area. The formerly-red walls were repainted with a fresh coat of white paint, with sheer curtains sealing the look.
To amp up the visual appeal, ash wardrobe doors and luxury bags in a recessed cabinet add a hint of splendour (and colour) to the space.
2. From a basic white-and-wood condo to one with a statement black-and green look
Dark colours aren’t what you’d normally associate with family homes, but this 5-bedroom condo in Sengkang is one (stunning) exception. Home to a family of four, it now boasts a statement black-and-green look that was born out of the homeowner’s passion for interior design.
Before and After: Living and Dining Area
With five bedrooms at their disposal, the designers from Prozfile Design merged one of them with the original living room to expand the space. The result: a bigger communal area that has more than enough room to house a dining and living area.
The TV feature area was then shifted to the opposite wall, which was spruced up with green fluted panels and a simple storage unit stretching across the length of the living area.
Before and After: Kitchen
The dark-coloured theme was extended into the kitchen area, where the original off-white cabinets were overlaid with matte black laminates to match the look.
Note the position of the kitchen island, which was extended and shifted from its original position to act as a divider between the kitchen and living area.
As a finishing touch, the old wooden door separating the dry and wet kitchen was eventually replaced with a sophisticated reeded glass one.
Before and After: Bathroom
While renovation works for the bathrooms were minimal, they’re by no means boring. For one, they’re decked out in the same stunning black-and-green theme as the rest of the house – but what really makes them stand out are the patterned laminates that draw your attention without looking overly messy.
3. From a barely-furnished condo to a quirky, eclectic home
You don’t always need extensive layout changes to transform a home. As this 1-bedroom condo in Marina Bay by Livspace proves, simple things like a fresh coat of paint and carpentry can be more than sufficient.
Before and After: Living Room
With bare white walls and basic furniture, this home was previously as cookie-cutter as it can get. But after a 10-week renovation, it’s clear that there’s nothing plain about it anymore, boasting a quirky, artistic vibe that is the furthest thing from boring.
The combination of fluted panels and colourful murals inject some personality into the space, while the new lighting scheme –consisting of cove lighting and a low-hanging pendant light – bathes the area in a warm glow.
Before and After: Bedroom
Here’s an example proving that furnishings matter. Since most of the original features – like the parquet floor – were left untouched, that leaves the dark walnut furniture to take centre stage.
Before and After: Bathroom
While the bathroom sports a cooler, more natural colour scheme, it has the eclectic cafe vibe with black-and-white mosaic tiles on the wall and floor. All of the original sanitary fittings were also replaced by black ones for additional visual contrast.
4. From a tiny, cluttered condo to a neat, spacious-looking home
Achieving a tidy, seamless look is tough when you have very little space to work with – but it’s doubly hard when the home has a weird layout. But somehow, the designers from Habit were able to work their magic on this tiny 1-bedroom Shelford Road condo, giving it a sleek, tidy look that any neat freak would envy.

Before and After: Kitchen and Dining area
It’s amazing to see how a few demolished walls can transform a space. In this case, part of the original kitchen wall was hacked to expand the walkway and dining area, giving the owners ample space to walk to and from the kitchen.
Before and After: Living room
Creating a neat home with sufficient storage space can be tricky – but if you ask us, this house has got it down pat.
Sleek built-ins covering the original walls function as both a storage area and a TV feature wall. And as the cherry on the top, the homeowners kept their furnishings simple and minimal for a clean, uncluttered space.
Before and After: Master Bedroom and Study
While the master bedroom was previously one big space, it has since been reduced to make way for a study. The result: a cleverly divided space, with two distinct zones for work and rest.
Despite that, they’re still connected to each other – with newly-built windows that create a seamless visual flow while encouraging human interaction.
5. From a dated penthouse condo to an NYC loft-inspired one
Condos in Singapore tend to have ceiling heights of around 2.8m, which is already a smidge higher than what you’d get in a HDB flat. But then, there are also condos – like this penthouse in Woodlands – that have a whopping 5.8m ceiling height, which is more than double the average!
Looks-wise, what better way to emphasise the soaring ceiling than with a NYC loft-inspired look, right?
Before and After: Living room
While those gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows already let in a huge amount of natural light, it sure doesn’t hurt to make the space even brighter.
All the walls were repainted with a coat of white paint, while the retro furniture are placed strategically to avoid cluttering the space. And of course, it’s not a ‘New York’ home without an exposed brick wall (albeit one made with brick-look veneers)!
Before and After: Kitchen
Once filled with outdated tiles and old-fashioned cabinets, the kitchen has since been given a modern overhaul. Other than the vibrant new colour theme and the black-and-white floor tiles, the original top-hung cabinets were also shifted to the other side to create the illusion of space.
Before and After: Common Bathroom
Like the kitchen, the bathroom was previously decorated with dated fittings – but looking at it now, you probably wouldn’t be able to figure that out.
Post-renovation, it now has a practical vanity with drawers, along with a backlit mirror and black fittings for that classy, contemporary touch.
